• Where are you located?
We are located close to the intersection of Jones Road and FM 1960 in northwest Houston on Tower Oaks Blvd.
• What is your service area?
We serve the greater northwest Houston area. If you are outside of that area and would like service, please call and we will do our absolute best to accommodate you.
• Do you travel outside of your service area?
We are happy to travel outside of our typical service area. Please call for rates and availability.
• Do you do commercial work?
While we are willing and able to handle commercial work, our specialty and passion lies in retrofitting existing systems. If you are a prospective commercial customer, please call us for possible service. We will discuss what type of equipment you have and the access to it to determine how to best help you.
• How long have you been in business?
Sterling Mechanical began in October of 1981.
• What organizations are you a member of?
We are currently affiliated with Air Conditioning Contractors of America and the Better Business Bureau. ACCA named our company the National Residential Contractor of the Year in 2000. We have also been awarded the BBB Winner of Distinction Award for 2009 and 2010.
• What is your service call charge?
Our diagnostic fee for our typical service area is $59.95. This includes the following zip codes: 77070, 77064, 77065, 77069, 77095, 77377, 77429, 77375, 77379. If your zip code is not listed, it does not mean we do not service your area and it also does not mean that you will pay additional charges. Contact us for a price and availability.
• Do you charge an hourly rate for repairs?
We do not charge hourly for repairs. We offer flat rate pricing which is a total price for the repair which includes parts, labor and warranties. You will no longer have to worry about what the price is going to be after the repair. You will be charged a diagnostic fee to travel to your home to determine the problem. This only covers diagnosing the problem, not repairing it. After a thorough diagnosis is performed, you will be informed of the cost of repairs. We promise not to make any repairs without prior approval. Many of our loyal customers have requested this pricing method. Rest assured that our pricing strategy remains value driven, as it has since 1981.
• Do you offer any type of warranty on repairs?
Most parts come with a one year warranty on the part only. As a courtesy to our customers, we extend that warranty to two years and include labor as well. For example, if we replace a capacitor and the part malfunctions within two years from the date the repair was made the only cost you will incur is the diagnostic fee. We will replace the defective part at no charge to you and the warranty will now be the remainder of the original repair.
• Do you provide free estimates?
We provide free estimates on equipment replacement. If you would like us to diagnose your system and give you an option to repair, a diagnostic fee will apply.
• How much is an A/C or Furnace Performance Safety Check?
Our Performance Checks are $59.95 for the first unit and $50.00 for each additional unit in the following zip codes: 77064, 77065, 77069, 77070, 77095, 77377, 77429, 77375, 77379. If your zip code is not listed, please call for pricing.
• What brands do you sell?
We sell American Standard equipment but are willing to provide you with any brand you prefer. If you are interested in a brand other than American Standard, please let us know so that we can provide you with a quote.
